Q: How do I dilute Först X?
A: Dilute Först X 50/50 with water to create standard Först. For lighter cleaning, you can dilute it further, depending on your needs.
Q: Can I use Först X at full strength?
A: While you can, there's usually no need. The product is highly effective even when diluted.
Q: Why shouldn't I cover the entire car with Först X?
A: Covering the whole car can waste product. Först X is highly effective, so it's best to target the dirtiest areas, usually the lower half and rear of the car, to get the most out of each application.
Q: How does Först X compare to snow foam?
A: Först X offers more cleaning power than snow foam because it's sprayed on at full strength without aeration, allowing it to spread more evenly across the vehicle and tackle grime more effectively.
Q: Do I need a special spray bottle for Först X?
A: While Först X doesn't come with a spray bottle, we recommend using a high-quality litre spray bottle to ensure even application and optimal performance. We sell IK Sprayer chemical resistant bottles for heavy duty use.
Q: Is it safe to use Först X on a ceramic coating?
A: For ceramic coated cars, always use Först X at 50/50 dilution or even more (just to be cautious). Whilst Först is a strong alkaline cleaner it can be used safely on fully cured ceramic coatings but we'd suggest keeping the dwell time low and rinsing thoroughly. Avoid using it on fresh ceramic coatings as this is when they are at their most vulnerable.
Q: I have noticed chalky or milky deposits on dark paint or trim after use. What is this and how can I sort them out?
A: Strong chemicals can briefly weaken softer finishes during use, especially in hot conditions where they can dry out. Never let a strong product dry out and apply it to wet panels only to help avoid this. Once a soft finish (black powder coated/refinished wheels, black plastic trim are classic examples) has been weakened, alkali salts from the product and calcium carbonate (limescale) deposits from hard water can be trapped into the surface giving a milky, cloudy or chalky appearance. Assuming these are merely deposits and not physical etching, you can remove them with a polish (like Skara in our range), waterspot remover or mild acid, or even a microabrasive 'magic' sponge. If light chemical etching has occured, Skara will help to level the surface and bring back lustre and shine. Stronger etching may require harsher polishing techniques or even refinishing.
